Pelicans Over the Golden Gate - June 25, 2006

I flew in on a Sunday to San Francisco to be ready for a business meeting on Monday.  As a teenager I had taken my first landscape photographs in this area 45 years ago.  At first I was disappointed with the weather and then a I realized as the cold wind blew 30 knots up the hill to seaward and pressed the fog against the Marin Hills that this was the real San Francisco I remembered.  The flock of pelicans was a fortuitous blessing. Taken with a Nikon D200 through a Nikkor 18-200mm lens at 170mm (equivalent to 255mm for a 35mm camera) at 1/160sec and f/14.
