Taking A
Break in
Oswego
Colby
Friday
July 23,
2004
On July
21st we
left
Phoenix
and
passed
through
the 7
locks of
the
Oswego
Canal.
Twenty
four
miles
later we
fueled
and
settled
into a
slip at
the
Oswego
Marina.
We had
heard a
few days
back
that the
upcoming
weekend
was the
annual
Oswego
Harborfest.
When we
arrived
many of
the
seasonal
slip
holders
suggested
we stay
for the
weekend
festivities.
The
program
includes
Jazz,
crafts,
fireworks
and an
air
show. It
was an
easy
sell.
The
marina
is right
in the
middle
of all
the
activity
so we
decided
to stay
for the
weekend.
After
thirty
locks
our
first
lay day
was
spent
cleaning
the lock
grime
from the
boat and
fenders
and
re-provisioning.
Now we
are
settling
into a
few days
were
Oswego
has
become
an
entertaining
destination.
We
received
pictures
by email
of Lila
our
latest
grandchild
so her
picture
gets the
place of
honor
for this
log
entry.
Harborfest
should
provide
some
additional
photo
opportunities
for our
entry
this
weekend.
Weather
permitting
we plan
on
crossing
Lake
Ontario
on
Monday
for
Sackets
Harbor,
NY and
then on
to
Clayton,
NY in
the
Thousand
Islands. |
