New
Jersey
Coast,
New York
City to
Haverstraw
Colby
Monday
July 12,
2004
On
Saturday,
July
10th we
departed
Cape
May, NJ
at
7:15AM
for the
run up
the New
Jersey
Coast to
the
Atlantic
Highlands.
The
weather
was
exceptional
with
light
north
winds
and seas
mostly
one foot
or less.
Shortly
after
2PM we
were
refueling
at the
Atlantic
Highland
Municipal
Marina
and soon
settle
in to a
slip for
the
night,
more
than a
little
tired
after
the 120
mile
run.
Joshua
and Gwen
arrived
for
dinner.
We can
recommend
Bahrs
Landing
Restaurant
in
Highlands,
NJ where
we
enjoyed
steamed
lobster
and
clams on
the
water.
We
arrived
back at
the
marina
in time
to enjoy
the
sunset.
Check
out the
picture
above
which
Gwen
helped
me take.
On
Sunday,
July 11
we were
underway
a little
after
10AM for
New York
City and
up the
Hudson
River to
the
Haverstraw
Marina.
The
Photo
section
of the
website
has four
more
pictures
of our
trip by
New York
City.
Carol
outdid
herself.
Our trip
up the
Hudson
River
was
against
a 2 knot
current.
It gave
us more
time to
enjoy
the New
York
skyline
and the
Palisades.
We were
settled
in by
2:30PM
and
enjoyed
an
afternoon
nap.
We plan
to head
up to
Kingston,
NY on
Monday
and
spend a
couple
of days.
The
weatherman
is
promising
some wet
weather
Tuesday.
Kingston
offers a
number
of
distractions
and will
provide
some
time to
recharge
the
crew's
batteries.
