Chesapeake
City and
Cape May
Colby
Friday
July 09,
2004
We were
finally
underway
at 11AM
on
Thursday,
July
8th. As
soon as
we
pulled
out from
Saltworks
Creek on
the
Severn
River we
noticed
a
vibration.
The boat
also had
lost 200
rpm at
the
cruising
throttle
position
so it
was
clear
that we
had a
full
crop of
barnacles
on the
propeller.
A few
quick
calls
and we
arranged
a diver
to clean
the prop
and
hull.
Two
hours
later we
were on
our way
to the
C&D
Canal.
See the
picture
above.
We had a
great
meal on
the deck
of the
Chesapeake
Inn and
were
serenaded
by the
"Blue
Cat
Blues"
Band.
Friday
morning
we were
underway
for a
run down
Delaware
Bay. The
wind was
from the
North
West and
light.
An
ebbing
current
pushed
us an
additional
two
knots so
we were
making
over
twenty
knots
for
forty
miles.
We are
in a
slip at
the
Canyon
Club in
Cape May
and are
looking
forward
to the
run
tomorrow
up the
New
Jersey
coast to
Sandy
Hook.
The
Saturday
weather
looks
good but
we
always
keep our
fingers
crossed.
Tomorrow's
run will
be about
120
miles.
We are
hoping
to meet
up with
my son,
Joshua
and his
wife,
Gwen at
the
Atlantic
Highlands
for a
dinner
together. |
