Catskill Creek

On August 31st we left Waterford after the rain cleared out early in the morning. We crossed the canal to a pier behind the Price Chopper Super Market. The pier is a very nice service for cruisers. After stocking up we passed through the Federal Lock at Troy, NY. It was the last lock for us this cruise. After 102 locks we probably did enough locks this year.
Forty miles south we pulled into Catskill Creek and tied up a Catskill Marina, a very nice marina in a park like setting. With the view across the creek we tied bow in so we could enjoy it from our back porch. Above you can see MYSTIC ROSE in the creek.
With Labor Day weekend coming up we have had made reservations for slips all the way to Newport. It was difficult to find spots over the weekend so we groomed our schedule to accommodate openings in the available marinas. We are now going into Milford, CT instead of Port Jefferson, NY when heading east on Long Island. We still make all the other ports mentioned in our last newsletter and added the Larchmont Yacht Club. This gave us an extra day on the Hudson River so we have stayed in Catskill Creek to enjoy the setting. The weather for the last two days has been the best yet. |
